(i started with clean machine, only premiere, then added other programs/packs). I came here however because CS4 is not dealing with one video file correctly - whereas all my other software works just fine. The metioned packs are virus/spyware free, and install/uninstall properly (on Windows XP all versions/SPs). but once i started using these packs, i've never had to do that again. I used to search for specific individual codecs for rare videos file formats. I have often used K-Lite and Community Codec Pack, with no problems, ever. Is this Adobe's recommendation or just some user? Is it all packs, or specific ones?
